Cup of Coffee: May 1, 2024

Hey all,

I had suggested that I may not do a newsletter today and, yeah, that’s the call I’m making. It was a long travel day for me — there are no direct flights between Columbus and San Antonio, so it’s a full day of airports and connection stress and all of that — so I decided to just rest up once I got home last night and get back at it tomorrow.

In the meantime, talk amongst yourselves. I’ll give you a topic:

Mike Trout — who we learned yesterday has a torn meniscus and will require surgery — is both a generational talent who will be elected to the Hall of Fame on his first ballot but also a player about whom we will forever wonder what could’ve been had he managed to stay healthy.

There aren’t too many players who fit that description, but man, that’s a bittersweet conversation to have. What a damn bummer.
